Hello, I'm Joseph Thomson
I am a singer/songwriter/musician living and working in the GTA. I am the fifth born of two Glaswegians, Joseph and Janet Thomson. I have four older siblings. There’s Owen, then Mary, James and Sandra. I also have five nieces and nephews; in no particular order, they are: Daniel, LeAnne, Edward, Janet, Evelyn.
My wife’s name is Kelly. Kelly and I were high school sweethearts…
Our Canine Family
We lost our mini schnauzer, Charlie in July of 2020.
In April 2021, we brought home a giant schnauzer pup to continue our canine family.
His name is Sir Reginald Kenneth Dwight or Reggie for short.
I’ve been a full-time professional musician for more than 46 years. My first professional gig was in April 1977 at the Royal Hotel in Picton, Ontario.
My favourite moments with N.O. will always be performing songs of The Beatles. We all genuinely loved the lads. Doing the Abbey Road, side two medley will always be a major musical memory for me. We nailed it.
Myself, Phil Poppa on sax, Mike Danckert on guitar, Ben Fulghum on drums (replaced in 2012 by Brian Humphreys) and the late Mike Kamino on bass.
Cover To Cover
In 2009 I released “Cover to Cover”, my first solo piano and voice recording. This was followed also in 2009 by “New Originals Sing All the Hits”, the recording debut of my band New Originals.
If You Only Knew
Prior to the pandemic, I worked entertaining seniors which brought me a level of job satisfaction I never thought possible at this stage of my career.
However, as much as I love that work, I will always be a rock ‘n’ roll musician at heart.
Remember, “live music is best!”
As a live musician I perform with piano, acoustic guitar, ukulele and sing. I feel most comfortable behind a keyboard, usually belting out a Billy Joel or Elton John classic.
